Starting in January 2018, Paid Family Leave (PFL) – one of the most comprehensive family leave programs in the nation – will take effect in New York. This regulation will require virtually all private employers in New York to provide paid family leave benefits to eligible employees. Any employee of an organization with at least one employee will be eligible for paid time off to care for a new child, sick family member, or qualifying military family member while providing job security. Kristin started her career in employee benefits over 10 years ago and has serviced both local (WNY) and national clients. Kristin is a NYS licensed Life, Accident and Health insurance broker. She sits on the Board of Directors of Buffalo Niagara Human Resources Association (BNHRA) and is a Certified Professional (CP) by the Society of Human Resources (SHRM).
Sharyn Weinfurtner, MA, PHR, SHRM-CP
Human Resources Consultant
Sharyn joined ESC as a Human Resources Consultant in 2004 and is one of two ESC Compliance Officers. Her background includes 23 years of human resources experience as both a manager and a generalist with manufacturing firms. Sharyn’s expertise lies within labor law compliance, training and development, employee relations, mediation and creating a culture of outstanding customer service.
Sharyn is PHR Certified by the HRCI and SHRM-CP certified by the Society of Human Resource Management, as well as a member of both the local BNHRA and SHRM. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Work and a Masters Degree in Human Resources.
